    If I’m following your gist, I would say that some relating of this observation to the neurological studies in which it has been found that reading and writing are not natural to the mind. Spoken language is processed in another (though related) area of the brain and is phenomenologically extant right from the start. This is why, for many, lectures (and videos) can impact the mind much more indelibly than merely reading/studying.
